Keane Care has built on its expertise with the Skilled Nursing Facility MDS assessment to develop assessment software for rehabilitation hospitals and for rural hospitals that can use their beds, as needed, to provide either acute or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care.

Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospitals and rehabilitation units (IRFs) are now paid for Medicare services using a per discharge Prospective Payment System (PPS) that uses information from a patient assessment instrument (IRF PAI) to classify patients into distinct groups based on clinical characteristics and expected resource needs.

Swing-Bed hospitals are paid for Medicare services using the SNF Prospective Payment System (PPS). The PPS relies on information from an assessment instrument to classify residents into one of 44 categories for payment purposes. Swing bed hospitals are required to use a special two-page assessment form to meet this requirement.

Both Keane software applications streamline the completion process by providing time-saving features, and generate valuable reports for day-to-day operations and management information.
