Quality Indicators

Performance Measures offers 24 clinical outcome measures based on the MDS 2.0 Quality Indicators developed by the Center for Health Systems Research and Analysis (CHSRA) at the University of Wisconsin.

The following is a list of the 24 measures available in Performance Measures.

CLINICAL MEASURES BASED ON QUALITY INDICATORS

Domain 1: Accidents

  1. Incidence of new fracture
  2. Prevalence of falls

Domain 2: Behavior/Emotional

  1. Prevalence of behavioral symptoms affecting others
  2. Prevalence of symptoms of depression
  3. Prevalence of depression without antidepressant therapy

Domain 3: Clinical Management

  1. Use of 9 or more different medications

Domain 4: Cognitive Patterns

  1. Onset of cognitive impairment

Domain 5: Elimination/Incontinence

  1. Prevalence of bladder or bowel incontinence
  2. Prevalence of occasional or frequent bladder or bowel incontinence without a Toileting Plan
  3. Prevalence of indwelling catheters
  4. Prevalence of fecal impaction

Domain 6: Infection Control

  1. Prevalence of urinary tract infections

Domain 7: Nutrition/Eating

  1. Prevalence of weight loss
  2. Prevalence of tube feeding
  3. Prevalence of dehydration

Domain 8: Physical Functioning

  1. Prevalence of bedfast residents
  2. Incidence of decline in late loss ADLs
  3. Incidence of decline in ROM

Domain 9: Psychotropic Drug Use

  1. Prevalence of antipsychotic use, in absence of psychotic and related conditions
  2. Prevalence of antianxiety/hypnotic use
  3. Prevalence of hypnotic use more than two times in last week

Domain 10: Quality of Life

  1. Prevalence of daily physical restraints
  2. Prevalence of little or no activity

Domain 11: Skin Care

  1. Prevalence of State 1-4 pressure ulcers
